FAQs
HOW DID OUR CHURCH START?
Our church started in a home in the summer of 1977 as a branch church of the original Fellowship Bible Church, which was founded by Dr. Gene Getz in the Richardson area. Dr. Getz, a faculty member at Dallas Seminary, was the founding pastor of our church. The people who gathered in that home officially organized as a church and held their first official service on Sunday evening, October 9, 1977. The new church was named Fellowship Bible Church Park Cities. Their vision was to bring a church with a contemporary and relational emphasis to North Dallas and the Park Cities. In 1980, we moved into our first building on Boedeker Street south of NorthPark Mall. In time we outgrew this facility, and in late 1992 purchased an office complex at the corner of Central Expressway and Meadow Lane, renovated it for use as a church, and moved in during the summer of 1993. At that time, the church was renamed Fellowship Bible Church Dallas. The church continued to grow and move forward under God’s will and direction. In 2004, we purchased the former United Artists Plaza just south on Central at Park Lane. Renovations took place throughout 2005, and Fellowship Dallas began meeting in its new home in March 2006. After 30 plus years, and with over 2,500 people calling Fellowship Dallas their church home today, the commitments to God’s grace, sound biblical teaching and authentic community remain foundational. HOW IS OUR CHURCH GOVERNED?
The final governing authority in our church is the board of elders, usually eight to ten in number, including the Senior Pastor and Executive Pastor. The church staff is ultimately responsible to the elder board. For effective functioning, the daily operations of the church are led and conducted by a gifted and qualified staff. The elders' names are listed on the Elders page.
IS OUR CHURCH PART OF A DENOMINATION?
Our church is an independent congregation and not part of a denomination. However, we share with Christians around the world a belief in the historic doctrines of the Christian faith, such as the authority of the Bible, the Trinity, and salvation through personal faith in Jesus Christ.
