Community Groups
What is a Community Group?
We believe that people can attend meetings, services and classes, and still never find truly meaningful connection within the body of Christ if they're not connected in authentic community. We also believe that the most effective environment for significant life-change is a grace-oriented community where the values of biblical truth, authentic community and missional living are pursued passionately. At Fellowship Dallas, we call this a "Community Group."
A Community Group is a consistent gathering of people who, for a season, commit to pursue life with God, life with one another, and life in the world together.
Fellowship Dallas Community Groups are small to mid-sized groups that typically meet weekly or every other week for 1-2 hours. Groups meet at the church, in homes, at restaurants, in offices, or anywhere else available around the city at different times and days during the week. Some are gender-specific. Others center around a shared life stage (like singles or empty nesters), age, or mission. Many are mixed across all boundaries. Some provide parallel programs for the kids while the adults meet. We even have groups that are specifically for new believers or people who aren't sure of this "Jesus-thing" yet!
Group meetings usually combine some socializing, Bible study, discussion of practical real life applications and prayer. The groups are all designed to be a safe environment to ask questions, talk about struggle and truly challenge one another to live a Christ-centered life, participating in the Mission of God. Groups are encouraged to be "on mission together as a group" or to be "a group of missionaries" serving, reaching out and impacting their sphere of influence as the people of God who are to be salt and light in the world.
How do I Join a Group?
It's easy to find, visit and join groups at Fellowship! Most people start by finding out about the available groups in their Area. You can do this by talking to an Area Pastor in the Hub, browsing through the online list of groups, or picking up a Community Group brochure at our biannual "Taste of Community" events. After you narrow down some options, you can contact the leaders to find out when and where they're meeting next. Feel free to visit several, or settle down into one right away!
