A Summary of Our Beliefs
About The Bible
We believe the Bible is inspired by God, without error in the original manuscripts, and the final authority on all matters about which it speaks.
About God
We believe in one God who exists as three persons - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe that God the Son became flesh in Jesus Christ, who was born of the virgin Mary, and is both God and man in one person.
About Humanity
We believe that the first man and woman were created in God's image and thus all humans have great value in God's sight. But when the first couple sinned, they brought both physical and spiritual death to the human race. As a result all human beings are born with a sinful nature, commit acts of sin in their lives, and must be reconciled to God through the death of Jesus Christ.
About What Christ Did For Us
We believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins, physically rose from the dead, and that He brings salvation and forgiveness to all who truly believe in Him. We believe that this salvation is a gift we receive through faith and it cannot be earned by any human effort.
About The Christian Life
We believe that sinless perfection is impossible in this life, and that Christians still experience sin and suffering in this world. Nevertheless, God has made provision for us to live an effective spiritual life through the Holy Spirit, who lives in our hearts and empowers us.
About The Church
We believe the local church should be a witness to the contemporary world and that without compromising Biblical absolutes, its ministry, worship, and teaching should creatively adapt to the particular culture it feels called to reach. We also believe in the unity of the local church and therefore reject an emphasis on, or teaching of, unclear doctrines in a way that threatens division.
About Communion
We serve communion the first Sunday of every month at all services. We encourage our small groups to participate in communion together as often as they would like since the early church shared the Lord's Supper "from house to house." In most Bible churches communion is served regularly but sparingly in order to keep it from becoming an empty ritual.
About Baptism
We practice what is often called "believer's baptism." That is, we believe that baptism is a symbolic, public, visible demonstration of an invisible, inner work of God when a person is indwelt by the Holy Spirit at the point of conversion. We do not baptize babies and we encourage the head of each household to baptize their children since we believe that those who lead their families are truly ministers in the home.
