Psalm 45

Margie McCreight
My name is Margie McCreight, and I have been attending Fellowship for six years. I live in Garland with my husband, Michael, and our seven-month-old son, Isaac. We lead a young adult couples Life Group, and I recently started serving in the Ark with the Little Lambs.
Psalm 45 is a song of praise written for a Davidic king on his wedding day. As a royal son of David, this king would be a foreshadowing of Christ. As I read this psalm, verse 4 stood out the most: "In your majesty ride forth victoriously." I picture Christ, our risen Savior and King, riding on a horse out of battle. The enemy has been defeated, and I now live in the victory of Christ. Where I once walked in guilt and shame, I now walk in freedom!
As I look to our victorious Savior, I'm struck by His perfect embodiment of truth, humility, and righteousness. In our world today, how powerful would it be to hold these three things equally? We live in a culture where it's the norm to take a news headline on Facebook, form an immediate opinion, and make an enemy out of those with different beliefs. Can you imagine the impact we would have on those around us if we humbled ourselves in the pursuit of truth, wanting what is truly best for all people? This is what the world needs.
Lastly, I'm reminded of the awesome deeds God has done in my life, made possible by the work of Jesus on the cross — from the ways He has provided for me and my family to the work He has done in my heart to let me know that I am truly loved. Praise God that I am made new!
This verse leads me to three tangible applications:
- Invite the Holy Spirit into every day and every moment. It is only through His power that I may live out the truth, humility, and righteousness that our world so desperately seeks.
- Remember what Jesus has done for me and let that gratitude transform my heart.
- Share about it with others! If I am inviting the Holy Spirit into every moment and consistently maintaining a heart of gratitude, it will naturally overflow into my conversations with those around me.
